Such a beautiful image! The angle of the Y-Wing, with the sunlight striking it? Superb :D

One of my favorite Star Wars fighter designs... dunno why I gravitated to it, but there was something so funky about it. Wonderful technique and solid draftsmanship!

Of course, a personal wallpaper is fine (and flattering). I think this jpeg is pretty darn big already, it just scales down on the Deviantart board!

i always wondert what happend to the y-wing pilots back then.
its known that they are not that fast as an x-wing but i cant imagine that only one (and two x-wings) survived the firts death star (just look how many pilots came to lukes x-wing later on!).
it kinda sad that the y-wing always gets its as kicked n fried and not getting any real respect. it would have been cool if that one y-wing flying into the 2nd deathstar would have shot a torpedo with Wedge together. Wegde on the one side and the y-wing pilot on the other.

and whlie im at it ... why were b-wings only shown during the jump and not during the battle?? ... the only excuse was 'they were very slow' haha ... ok, perhpas the y-wing is not the slowest fighter outthere.

(sorry for the double post ... i hit return too soon)

There are 2 ways to do a shot of a Y-wing - the ugly way and the not so ugly way. You've done it the 3rd way and made it possible to look at the Y-wing as a truly heroic craft. The lighting in the piece gives it a sense of power and grace that I've not seen before. Very well done.

Thanks, all!

It is, in fact, a Y-wing.

It's definitely not an E-wing. Although that ship was created by the comic master Cam Kennedy, I do not subscribe to any mythos outside of the original Trilogy (including the silly new movies).

One might say I'm a Trilogian (to coin a phrase). Anything written after 1983 is not canon in my opinion. Everything else is fan fiction (like my own works)!

The corruption of the Star Wars universe has been as bad as the corruption of the Star Trek universe. Trek ended in 1975 (tho' for the original cast movies I can offer a Mulligan).

I will now dismount from my high-horse, thank you, and enjoy the buffet.
