Nice though you did a misstake!
The Missouri battleship looks like the post-conversion version of the 80s and from not from WW2. I can see the CIWS and those didn't exist during WW2. You drawed the modern version of the battleship!
But in any case this is still a very good job and I love it!
Those pages are just amazing. You really ought to do a tutorial on doing the explosions because I have a hard time with those. Would love to learn how you do them. If you don't mind my asking, how long does it take you on average to do a page like this?
This was originally a single page that I expanded into a double page spread. I do a lot of my effects in an ancient version of Painter, where I can't use layers, so I paint backgrounds and import them into Photoshop.
The smudge tool helps with things like clouds, water, and explosions, but it takes time experimenting to get what I want.
This one probably took all day (its a blur right now), since it's a big file, and there's quite a few elements to consider (atmosphere, explosions, gunfire, ship reference), and MANY layers (clouds, water, ships, fire, rain, dialog, etc).
Thanks! I always find it really interesting to see how others put together their work, and yours is just amazing. I start griping when it takes me an hour to color the panels for my weekly comic strip (Operation Elusive Concept). ^^ I don't think I could ever put this much work into a comic. I'd be banging my head into the keyboard after the first day, I think.
